Why did you choose to work at the Department of Business Development and Technology?
Firstly, I am glad to join the Department of Business and Technology (BTECH), Aarhus University. The Department of BTECH is expanding within the areas of technology, innovation, business engineering, business economics and management that perfectly match my research experience and educational background. I think I have an excellent opportunity to develop while working at BTECH.

What is your area of expertise and what will you be doing here?
My research focus is in the areas of labour productivity, technology and knowledge (R&D) spillovers, labour mobility and structural change. Recently, I finished my postdoc project at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU, 2015-2017) where my specific focus was on the creativity and knowledge-based strategies for small and medium-sized cities of Denmark. During the last two years, I have published five articles in international peer-reviewed journals within the areas of regional productivity and technology spillovers. Besides research, I have more than 10 years of teaching experience at different universities. My teaching portfolio (at graduate and undergraduate level) covers a wide range of courses in economics and business.

What is your educational background?
My academic background includes my PhD degree in economics from the University of Southern Denmark (2015) and MSc degree in Economics from Aarhus University. Moreover, I also have a formal university teaching training (pedagogical training) offered by the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at SDU.

What have you done before?
I have done both teaching and research before joining BTECH. I worked as a lecturer of economics at the University of Punjab, Pakistan and as an assistant professor of economics at FCC University, Pakistan (2006-2011).  From 2012-2017, I was employed at SDU (as a PhD researcher and Postdoc fellow) and here the assignments involved both teaching and research. With regard to research, I have published more than 10 research articles in peer-reviewed journals in the field of international economics, Macroeconomics, Regional economics and labour economics.

Please tell us a bit about yourself, your family and your leisure activities.
By birth, I am from Pakistan but I have lived in Denmark since 2012.  We are five members in our family, my wife, twin boys (11 yrs) and a lovely daughter (7yrs). In my free time, I prefer to spend time with my family, listen to music, watch movies, travel and meet new people.
