Abstract:
How to work consciously, ethically and productively across disciplines? This seminar explores approaches to working across and beyond disciplinary boundaries, with a focus on bridging engineering/technology and business/social science perspectives. Drawing on experience from over 100 projects across different sectors and more than 30 countries, Sudebi Thakurata and Probal Banerjee from D.epicentre will discuss design-led systems and futures thinking rooted in dignity, positionality and fairness as a framework for trans and interdisciplinary collaborations. The session will include narratives, practical examples and ways of fostering productive dialogue across and beyond different disciplinary approaches.

The work ranges from business/service design to learning/ecosystem design; game and toolkit design to futures literacy; evaluation to instruction design; exhibition to publication design; creative facilitation to leadership; research to user-experience design; and mentoring to socially-engaged arts initiatives. The contexts range from climate change, cultural relations, intergenerational fairness, organisational transformation, archives, education, refugees, technology and making, health, elderly, youth and future consciousness, and crafts to care and social innovation to entrepreneurship.
