From manufacturing to digital transformation

A short intro: Who are you and what’s your professional background?
My name is Emolin Indran Rajanbabu. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Southern Denmark in Odense. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I decided to broaden my academic perspective by pursuing a master’s degree at Aarhus University. This led me to the master’s programme in Technology Based Business Development at Aarhus BSS.

Moving away from a familiar environment and adapting to a different academic approach was one of the best decisions I have made. The programme provided me with valuable knowledge of technology, business development and digitalisation. This complemented my background in manufacturing and strengthened my understanding of how technological solutions can support organisational development and process improvement.

Alongside my bachelor’s and master’s studies, I worked part-time at Dan-Foam ApS and Danhydra A/S. These roles gave me the opportunity to apply my theoretical knowledge in practice and gain valuable insight into how organisations operate.

What is your area of work?
My main professional interests are manufacturing, process optimisation and digital technologies. During my bachelor’s degree, I worked on projects related to process optimisation, operations management and Lean. These projects focused on improving process flows, making better use of resources and reducing activities that do not add value. 

During my master’s degree, I further developed these competencies and gained a more technology-oriented perspective. I explored how organisations can improve their processes through digitalisation and technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), large language models (LLMs) and robotic process automation (RPA).

My studies also focused on the organisational aspects of implementing technology. In particular, I examined how companies can assess their digital maturity, prepare for the adoption of new technologies and manage organisational change. Together, these areas form the core of my professional interests. Currently, I am working on a research paper on the use of AI agents in the public sector.

Why did you choose to work at the Department of Business Development and Technology?
I chose to join the Department of Business Development and Technology because I was already familiar with its academic environment from my time as a master’s student. I value the department’s focus on technology, business development and digital transformation, as these areas align closely with my academic background and professional interests.

I also appreciate the department’s interdisciplinary environment, where people from different academic and professional backgrounds can collaborate and share knowledge. Working at the department allows me to contribute my own knowledge and experience while continuing to develop my skills and gain new perspectives.

Would you like to share a bit about yourself, your family and your hobbies?
I currently live in Kolding with my husband. Cooking is one of my main interests, and I enjoy experimenting with different types of desserts. Those who know me well know that I often bring a homemade dessert to special occasions.

I also enjoy creative activities such as sewing and embroidery. Travelling is another interest of mine, as it allows me to experience different cultures and capture the places and moments I encounter along the way.

I am a detail-oriented person, both at work and in my personal life. I naturally tend to notice where small improvements can be made, which I believe stems from my background in manufacturing engineering. I also enjoy learning new things and developing my skills.

My faith is also an important part of my life. I attend church regularly and am involved in the children’s ministry at my local Tamil church.
