S Jarjees Ul Hassan

A short intro: Who are you, and what’s your professional background?
My name is S Jarjees Ul Hassan, and I recently joined Aarhus University as a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Energy Technologies at the Department of Business Development and Technology (BTECH). I hold a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea, where my research focused on smart grids, renewable energy integration, hosting capacity analysis and smart inverter control. Over the years, I have published multiple research papers in reputable international journals and at conferences in the field of power systems and energy technologies.

What is your area of work?
My work focuses on the integration of renewable energy sources and electric vehicles into modern power grids. I design and implement analytical, optimisation, and machine learning techniques to enhance grid stability, increase hosting capacity and improve overall energy management. I value teamwork and actively seek opportunities for meaningful research collaborations that drive innovation and create real-world impact.

Why did you choose to work at BTECH?
I chose BTECH because of its collaborative research environment and its strong focus on applied, industry-relevant innovation. The department’s interdisciplinary approach aligns perfectly with my goal of bridging advanced technical research with real-world applications in sustainable energy systems. In particular, the forward-looking and unique research at the Centre for Energy Technologies, which also integrates a socio-economic perspective on the energy market, strongly resonates with my vision for impactful and sustainable energy solutions.

Would you like to share a bit about yourself, your family and your hobbies?
I am originally from Pakistan and, before moving to Denmark, I spent six years in South Korea, where I made many great memories. This is my first time not only in Denmark but in Europe as well. It has been an exciting new experience, and I am happy to see that people here are open and helpful. I am still adjusting to the weather but hope to adapt soon. I am the son of parents who are enjoying their retirement and are extremely proud of their three sons, two of whom are medical doctors, and myself, the youngest, a PhD holder. I enjoy travelling, exploring new cultures and languages, swimming, and playing cricket and football. I am also passionate about engaging with communities on topics related to clean energy and sustainable development.
