Title: Energy transition of small and medium sized companies: Pilot Projects, lessons learnt and the future

Speaker: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Mann

Bio: Professor of Renewable Power Systems, TH Aschaffenburg, Germany.  Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Mann : TH AB.

Abstract:
The transition to renewable energy is one of the most pressing challenges of our time—requiring innovative solutions that bridge theory and practice. This lecture presents real-world case studies demonstrating how companies and municipalities can successfully implement sustainable energy strategies.

Topics covered:

  • Industrial Transformation: How a manufacturer operating a 3-shift production is moving towards renewable energy integration.
  • District Heating Optimization: Insights from a municipal utility, on leveraging digital twins, climate data, and temperature profiles to enhance efficiency and resilience in heating networks.
  • Research Meets Practice: The role of advanced modeling and data-driven approaches in shaping future energy systems.

These examples illustrate how applied research and practical implementation work together to accelerate the energy transition—providing valuable lessons for engineers, researchers, and decision-makers.
