Jakob Mathias Liboriussen

Who are you, and what is your professional background?
I hold a master’s degree in Management Accounting and Control from Aarhus BSS, where I later also completed my PhD. For the past three years, I’ve been working as an assistant professor at the Department of Accounting, Auditing, and Law at the Norwegian School of Economics in Bergen.

What is your area of work?
My field is management accounting. I’m particularly interested in how management accounting information and models are brought into play through dialogue within organisations, and how the finance function can contribute to good practice.

Empirically, I have worked within the arts and culture sector in Denmark – including the use of management models in the European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017 and in exhibitions at a major Danish museum. In Norway, my primary focus has been on the use of management information in Norwegian hospitals.

Why did you choose to work at the Department of Business Development and Technology?
When I saw that BTECH was looking for an assistant professor in the field of management accounting, I decided to apply. I was drawn to BTECH’s practice-oriented and interdisciplinary approach, which aligns well with my research profile and interests. During the hiring process, I experienced a warm and welcoming atmosphere, which confirmed my impression that the position at BTECH was an exciting opportunity.

Would you like to share a bit about yourself, your family and your free time?
I live in Horsens with my fiancée, Nicole, who works as a freight forwarder at DSV. We’ve recently bought a house in Horsens, which we’ll be moving into on 1 May. In my free time, I enjoy hiking and spending time with family and friends.

I’m very much looking forward to meeting all of you.
