Making AI a better teammate

Who I am and professional background
My name is Shahedul Alam Khan. I am an academic and researcher with a background in business administration and quantitative research. I hold a Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration, specialising in Strategy and Organisation, from the University of Southern Denmark. Before that, I completed a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Studies at the University of Dhaka. 

Professionally, I spent nearly a decade in academia in Bangladesh. Most recently, I served as a student research assistant at SDU, contributing to data management and quantitative analysis as well as to a published book chapter.

Area of work
My current research lies at the intersection of organisational design and artificial intelligence. I intend to study how people can give better instructions to AI by combining human expert knowledge with structured prompting routines to produce better decisions. My research helps bridge the gap between human understanding and machine algorithms, making AI a more reliable teammate.

This interest was inspired by my Master’s thesis, which examined how AI and communication dynamics impact coupled learning performance in organisational contexts. Firsthand observations of how communicative barriers between decision-makers and LLMs limit collaboration underscored the need for more structured, knowledge-driven input routines in AI-augmented decision-making.

The department brings together diverse scholarly perspectives under one roof, fostering a uniquely rich collaborative environment for researchers. Given my focus on human-AI collaboration, BTECH offers an ideal workplace in which to advance my research.

Personal life, family and hobbies
I live with my wife and our young daughter. After spending three years in Odense, we recently relocated to Herning. In my downtime, I love exploring the outdoors with my family. Beyond family time, I find great peace in walking through lush green forests and admiring nature.
